How did you enjoy what was unequivocally the best anime of 2022, /cyb/?
I personally loved it. True to the aesthetic, great dystopian/tragic theme, a compelling story, and spectacular character design.

Mathematical Modelling - Ground Based Mobile Air Defence System.pdf
BOOK COVER.png
Re-post from >>>/mlpol/366504 →
That book belongs better here at /cyb/

Mathematical Modelling, Nonlinear Control and Performance Evaluation of a Ground Based Mobile Air Defence System - (by Constantinos Frangos)
>This research monograph deals with the dynamic modelling, nonlinear control and performance evaluation of a ground based mobile air defence system (ADS).
>The present work complements existing references on ground based ADSs ([69, 108, 142]). The afore-mentioned publications deal mainly with static or non-mobile ADSs, that is, ADSs that are deployed at a fixed location. This research monograph deals with a mobile ADS that consists of an armoured ground vehicle with an integrated rotating turret and anti-aircraft (AA) gun.
The math involved might look overwhelming for the STEM newbie fag but it is only the appetizer on the way to a 24/7 autonomous robotic system guarding the backyard.

Mastering 3D Printing.pdf
BOOK COVER.png
Mastering 3D Printing - A Guide to Modeling, Printing, and Prototyping - (by Joan Horvath, and Rich Cameron)
>2nd Edition, 2020
>We have been astonished at how much the 3D printing industry has changed since the first edition of this book, which was published in 2014.
>Amazingly little has remained constant since then, except perhaps for a sense of wonder about what might be possible. That sense now is informed by more sober realities about the challenges that remain, as well as more realistic ideas about good applications.
>In this book, we want to give you a path to get started with 3D printing, as well as enough insight to go a considerable distance down the road to using it to create useful things. 3D printing still is not all that straightforward, and we have tried to create a balance between telling you enough so you can get started without drowning in too much detail and not telling you enough. We have minimized the use of step-by-step screenshots, for example, since those get out of date quickly. Instead, we have given a few examples and tried to tell you what we were doing and why, so that you can do the same thing in whatever system you are using.

No, it's an excellent book. I consider Stroustrup's own PPP2 to be the literal best programming textbook for serious students (regardless of language). But for C++ beginner's, Lippman's 5E book is a close second.

I used to think that sentences like that were exaggerations, but were basically right. I'm no longer convinced it's that big of an exaggeration. The only thing I think I could imagine adding to that to make it more true is some half-garbled attempt to explain the layers of truth and delusion that women wrap around themselves via their inherent psychoses.

Leftists exaggerate because they're evil. They're disappointed in their friends for not boycotting the new Harry Potter game just because Rowling offended the trans terrorist "lobby"? They'll claim you're killing people or the reason trannies kill themselves. It's just a tactic to shock you. They'll sling blame and shame like they're wildly swinging a baseball bat around, hoping to beat you to death, hoping one of these swings lets them get what they want.

We're the smart ones who understand reality and how to work within it. They're the idiotic cultists who would rather build a wall around what they can control and deny anything exists beyond it. They don't want to admit nigger tolerance is a disaster, women can't handle the responsibility of political power, and commie "treat the seed with acid and train the seed to grow whatever food you want" style "science" results in mass starvation. They don't want to admit they're weak and stupid and inferior and worthless, because if we were naturally allowed to be better than them in ways they cannot deny, they would feel small. And they'd rather kill us and themselves for the sake of their feelings than try to find any way to discover joy within a humble life, because they feel entitled to power even if they aren't capable of using it wisely.

manegele little humanpony

genetics is magic.

base: human dna, edited with pony dna and cat dna (mlp ponies have cat lije features)

i don't think actual hooves would be apropriate, but very stronhly modified paws. those would look more like mlp pony hooves and could still allow for object manipulation.

wings and horns would be mostly useless.

the colors are going to be complicated, especialy blue hues.

The Failure of Modern Science
Anonymous
No.2560
2561
Peer review was supposed to be the gold standard of science. Instead, it turned out to be a fraud that polluted the knowledge base, corrupted the profession, and destroyed confidence in the method.

It’s very important to remember that most people neither know or understand anything about science, so the idea that science is not only less than perfectly reliable, but is, in fact, reliably false is extremely foreign to them. They have no idea that reliable science is called “engineering”, and in fact, their grasp of the credibility of the two fields is usually inverted.

But if you are an independent thinker capable of processing information on your own, it should not be too difficult to grasp that science is intrinsically flawed due to several unavoidable factors that boil down to the absence of any controlling factor for the human element.

Peer review was never that missing factor. As I pointed out years ago, peer review doesn’t even rise to the level of editing, much less auditing, it is more akin to slush-file reading by volunteers. The great irony of the primary defense of peer review is that it is a concept based on nothing more than pure logic utilized to justify an activity specifically conceived to replace the use of pure logic.

Some good things there, but it may be alienating without pros/cons or why it has even been mentioned, so I'll write those for some things I'm familiar with.

For example, regarding the operating systems category - I assume they were chosen because they don't use the (((Systemd))) cancer and are generally quite secure:
Artix Linux is very good and has a really good community as well, but it's also easy to "break" it (for example, by simply running an update) and will then require the command line to fix up. Been using mostly Linux for around 10 years, but I moved away from Artix because of that.
Also, there are so many init system choices for Artix, people get confused and create threads asking which one to use, which will usually start some kind of discussion every few months. :/

I generally use Devuan with the Cinnamon desktop (don't remember if it does minor telemetry though) or MX Linux with XFCE, although hibernating on a LUKS encrypted install can be flaky because both standard installs don't create a large enough hibernation partition by default, and MX Linux more or less gave up trying to get hibernation running on most machines so have hidden the option. Manually setting up a functioning LUKS install with hibernation is still a huge PITA.

Some quick comments before going to bed (will post more later):
Matrix requires email and collects metadata,
Telegram isn't as secure as people think it is because it requires an identifying phone number, could still match metadata to messages and the creator is on the WEF website,
Tox apps will reveal IP addresses unless running over VPN or TOR,
Otter Browser is cute but crashes frequently.

The only search engine worth using for serious searches nowadays IMO is Yandex.com, because using a frontend like Searx will still pull results from google, and they shoah anything useful before sending the censored results on to other services.

Yandex.com is the last big search engine left standing, and still reminds one of the "good old days" when searches would actually come up with diverse and interesting results, rather than homogeneous satan-(pre)approved ones.

You can also sign up and sign into custom matrix servers. The policies and requirements can be different and more or less secure depending on who made it.

I generally use qwant.com for a search engine, but meh.
Also you forgot to list gab.com
Probably the most interesting thing out there is the Gemini Protocol
https://gemini.circumlunar.space/docs/faq.gmi
>Gemini is a new application-level internet protocol for the distribution of arbitrary files, with some special consideration for serving a lightweight hypertext format which facilitates linking between files. You may think of Gemini as "the web, stripped right back to its essence"

Tons of other things, krita and inkscape for art, synfig for 2D vector animation, LMMS or Aurdor for making music (DAW), handbrake for encoding videos, kdenlive for video editing, FreeCAD for designing and drawing parts or making technical 3D models, CoreCTRL for overclocking AMD video cards, can do processor stuff too, VeraCrypt for encrypting disk images, full disks, or groups of disks, probably other things I can't think of

No, matrix does not require a phone number, but some servers might require such a thing (won't affect federation at all)
matrix.horse and mlp.chat are your two best based pony matrix servers.

>FreeCAD for designing and drawing parts
I never used a CAD software so unfinished and cumbersome. The current devs are not to the task to make it at least user friendly and iron its quirks. Not actually their fault, the code is a 20 years old C++ spaghetti that no one can understand how it works and needs to be re-written from zero. So, what the devs were and are doing in the last yeas is to write python pluggins to extend functionality, but the flawed core is helpless.

Biocomputers

No.2185
Biocomputers (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biological_computing) are an emergency technology where biological components are made to store and/or process information for computers. Biocomputers have been made in the past using brain cells (https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn6573-brain-cells-in-a-dish-fly-fighter-plane/) however keeping brain cells alive is both difficult and expensive. Other approaches are currently being tried using fungi and bacteria. (https://www.technologyreview.com/2021/11/09/1039107/e-coli-maze-solving-biocomputer/ https://www.cnet.com/science/pianist-to-perform-musical-duet-with-slime-mold/). There are also approaches in synthetic biology that would use individual biological molecules for computing. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNA_computing https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peptide_computing https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcriptor)

So my question to you /cyb/ is how will these devices change the world of computing?

This is the third biocomputer this year to make headlines. Seems there is a lot of interest in biocompting right now.

An electro-chemical reaction is not a computer and tweaking that reaction is not the software.
That cretin is using the 'computer' label while calling his contact in the judenpresse to facilitate more shekels and a steady incoming.

If they can use electro-chemical reactions to solve problems then it is a form of computing.

>it is a form of computing
A forced analogy (a form of computing you said) doesn't turn one into another.
